Summer Exhibition introduction

Suffolk Art Society were delighted to return to Holy Trinity Church, Long Melford, for their Summer Exhibition.
This was the second exhibition for 2024 with 60 Suffolk artists taking part in the beautiful Lady Chapel.
Hundreds of visitors attended, also enjoying the beautiful weather and things to do in Long Melford. Comments were made regarding the wonderful standard of work. Nine new members have joined us this year.

St Nicholas Hospice

The society have decided to support The St Nicholas Hospice again this year. Visitors were so generous in their kind donations, together with 20% of sale net profits going towards this very worthy cause.

Summer Exhibition Favourite Painting

Hundreds of visitors took part in this popular event, where they were invited to vote for their favourite painting . The artists with the most votes were then presented with an award of art vouchers from the SAA. This year there was a tie and Ian Longhurst and new member Catherine Potter were delighted to be awarded with their prize.

         Summer Exhibition Sales

The Society were delighted with the number of sales over the fortnight. In total 48 framed and 45 unframed paintings were sold. Turnover was also much higher than last year , which was wonderful news and means more funds were raised for St Nicholas Hospice. Our top sellers this time were Ailsa Lyn Dove and Pat Stoten.

Future Events

The final exhibition of 2024 will take place at Bury Cathedral from 3rd October – 11th October.
